About The Position

Under general direction, to assist in the planning, development, and implementation of policies, regulations, guidelines, and procedures pertaining to the District Student services programs; to serve as a resource to Student services personnel concerning special subject and instructional programs; to review, monitor, and coordinate the functions and activities of the Student services instructional personnel; and to do other related functions as directed. This position classification requires subject matter expertise commonly taught in public schools, and coordination of early childhood curriculum and instructional processes. Directly related experience in special education programs is required to perform the required programmatic analyses using widely prescribed instructional principles and concepts. The position classification performs decision analysis processes and makes decisions of considerable consequence, requiring the application and interpretation of data, facts, procedures, and policies. The incumbent meets frequently with school administrators, teachers, other staff, and parents to communicate information, data, and alternative problem solutions. This is a position classification that performs light work involving sitting a portion of the time, but does require walking and standing for extended periods. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, the ability to provide oral information and direction, and the handling and working with instructional and assessment materials and objects. Requirements

  • Knowledge of: Principles, budgeting techniques, strategies, goals, and objectives of public education; Methods, techniques, procedures, and strategies concerning the assessment and evaluation of the District child development programs; Legal mandates, policies, regulations, and operational procedures pertaining to child development instruction delivery systems; State, Federal, and local community child service groups and agencies; Modern innovative and creative curriculum and instructional trends pertaining to pre-school and elementary age child; Human relations strategies, conflict resolution strategies, and team building principles and techniques.
  • Ability to: Provide specialized resource support and coordination of creative and innovative curriculum and instruction programs; Analyze and assess program needs, and offer recommendations pertaining to program activity revisions, additions, or deletions; Supervise, coordinate and participate in the evaluation of the District child development programs and activities; Serve as a resource to instruction and management personnel; Establish and maintain effective organization, community, and public relationships; Communicate effectively in oral and written form; Understand and carry out oral and written directions with minimal accountability controls.
  • Experience: Three years of successful teaching experience, and the successful completion of a comprehensive administrative internship training program.
  • Education: Equivalent to the completion of an earned Baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college or university in educational administration, instructional technology, or a closely related field.
  • Certification Requirement Possession of certification as required by Kentucky law.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and participate in the Student services educational programs.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate staff development workshops, clinics, and other professional growth activities.
  • Oversee the legislative intent for Family Resource/Youth Service Centers – KRS 156.497 for the Scott County School System.
  • Confer with, counsel, and advise management and instruction personnel concerning special programs, instructional strategies, and other related activities.
  • Advise and offer recommendations concerning appropriate instructional methods, media, and materials.
  • Plan, organize and conduct parent in-service training programs.
  • Advise teachers in classroom assessments such as Early Language and Literacy Classroom Observation tool, Early Childhood Environment Rating Scale, and provide resources for teachers, check monitoring data, plan observations and strategies for students.
  • Assist in developing standards-based, developmentally appropriate goals & objectives for the preschool program
  • Assist in the planning and supervision of mass screenings; participate in Dial 3 screenings one- on-one; participate in screening exit interviews and Response To Interventions (RTI)
  • Perform demonstration teaching and instructional modeling functions for instructional personnel to ensure that the instructional process meets the needs of the Student services students.
  • Review, research, and prepare new material and pilot projects pertaining to special subject programs.
  • Review, monitor and assist in the performance appraisal of the Student services staff.
  • Assist in the preparation of the consolidated application for categorical funding and monitor the projects to ensure compliance with State or Federal guidelines and requirements.
  • Provide assistance and guidance to District and project personnel regarding the selection and utilization of materials and equipment.
  • Confer with and aid project instruction personnel in the resolution of unusual and unforeseen problems, issues, and concerns.
  • Assist in the Student services budget planning and expenditure control process.
  • Serve as a Child Care resource and liaison to community groups.
  • Prepare a variety of management and program evaluation reports as required.
  • Comply with applicable state and federal law as well as local policies and procedures.
  • Others duties as assigned.
