About The Position

Facilitates compliance with district, state and federal requirements for special education programming, laws and regulations. Coordinate the delivery and operation of student services through communication with district staff. Responsible for the recruitment, professional development, supervision and evaluation for all student services staff. Coordinate professional development opportunities for all student services staff Coordinate the implementation of federal and state applications; IDEA Flow-Through, IDEA Early Childhood and Title III (bilingual grant) Supervise and coordinate reimbursement for Medicaid eligible students who receive services through their IEP's and time study Coordinate and supervise services provided to students identified as eligible for special education. Oversee the development and implementation of IEP's and monitor compliance. Stay abreast of district policy and current statues relative to Individuals with Disabilities Act and Section 504 regulations. Serve as liaison with District legal counsel regarding student service compliance issues, mediation and due process proceedings. Oversee transportation services for students who need transportation Facilitate and supervise MTSS program Coordinate the District Crisis Plan Coordinate homebound instruction Serve as the District Homeless (McKinney-Vento) Liaison Serve as the District's summer school coordinator Attend monthly ECHO Joint Agreement Director Meetings Attend annual IAASE conference, assorted workshops, and an Academy Credit Course annually. Attend District Leadership Team and School Leadership meetings Perform leadership and management activities relative to the special education department. Facilitate special education data entry, schedule screenings and meetings Attend board meetings regularly Approve purchase orders and transportation billing for Special Education Supervise students picked up after regular dismissal as needed Provide administrative oversight to Case Manager as well as department Administrative Assistant Ongoing consultation/collaboration with district and building administrators regarding issues related to students with disabilities Support Wilson Administration with ongoing child find activities through Pre-K screenings Provide intervention consultations (held throughout the year), and meetings held for home-schooled/privately placed students (annually) Coordinate case study evaluations (initially and triennials) Manage district special education students including students placed in out-of-district placements (approximately 10 different schools) including domain, eligibility, IEP manifestation determination reviews, and transition meetings. Write IEP's and attend annual review meetings for district special education students. Collaboratively develop eligibility reports for students evaluated Assess, coordinate, schedule, and hold transition meetings for students coming from Early Intervention Coordinate, schedule, and hold transition meetings for all eighth grade students with IEPs. Monitor and enforce child abuse reporting and DCFS mandated reporter procedures Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
