PURPOSE The Assistant Director is a member of the Islander Housing leadership team and supports the planning and implementation of residence life goals and strategies. This position provides leadership and direction for residential communities through the supervision of assigned professional live-in staff. The Assistant Director is responsible for overseeing the student conduct process, case management, and coordinating Care and Assistance efforts within Islander Housing. This role ensures concerns related to behavior, policy violations, and student well-being are addressed in a fair, timely, and supportive manner. The Assistant Director works closely with campus partners to support students through challenging situations while maintaining accountability and community standards. The residential experience is designed to support student safety, accountability, and well-being. As a live-in staff member, the Assistant Director engages regularly with students in a variety of settings and plays a key role in responding to conduct concerns, care referrals, and crisis situations. The Assistant Director works closely with the Associate Director of Residence Life on assessment and evaluation efforts, Move-In processes and programs, and participates in an on-call rotation across two residential properties. This position serves in an on-call rotation and must be able to respond to emergency and crisis situations, including support during hurricane and tropical storm preparation.
