About The Position

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Assistant Director of Programming, Alumni and Community Engagement – Boca Raton, FL. Responsible for assisting in providing the management, administrative direction, coordination, and control of activities of the Alumni Affairs and/or the Advancement areas, and specifically coordination of all programming and event experiences to serve as a clearinghouse for experiential engagement within the department, while laser-focused on signature events. Assists in coordinating the Advancement/Alumni Affairs activities of the university colleges and/or divisions to maximize effectiveness and prevent duplication of activities directed at specific alumni audiences. Assists in the planning, directing, reporting, and evaluation of the programs administered by the department. Make recommendations regarding revisions to program activities.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience required.

  • Experience with alumni relations or advancement, preferably in higher education.
  • Proficiency with Raiser's Edge or other CRM systems.
  • Experience with planning and executing events.
  • Knowledge of CASE standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the team on alumni opportunities to support our community.
  • Identify target populations and collaborate with key alumni and community partners to maximize engagement in those areas.
  • Oversee segmented outreach that includes events, social interactions, and other engagement tracking, liaison relationships, and network assignments.
  • Sponsorship coordination and support in partnership with the team, especially focused on programming-aligned sponsorship opportunities.
  • Engage in many sponsorships and partnerships with the community.
  • Enhance and execute those relationships, ensuring reciprocity and strength in those important collaborations.
  • Utilize all software and resources to manage alumni engagement at your disposal, such as Raiser’s Edge and other internal databases to record meeting information, update contact information, develop and update contact information, and more.
  • Plan, manage, and assist in oversight of alumni and community engagement programming initiatives and alumni events.
  • Determine opportunities for meaningful and strategic engagement with key segments of the local and regional community.
  • Collaborate with alumni relations colleagues for network event planning, promotion, and same-day management.
  • Oversee engagement and community partnership efforts for notable alumni in the category of awardees, both past, present, and future, including but not limited to Talon Leadership and Service Awards, Hall of Fame, Distinguished Alumni, Parliament of OWLs, and Owls Under Forty.
  • Support at least one committee of the Board and execute volunteer assistance and maximization at alumni programming and within other experiences.
  • Work with Advancement Services and communications teams to create and produce reports that track attendance and participation rates related to the above-mentioned events and experiences.
  • Identify key stakeholders responsible for receiving reports and aligning with unit metrics, goals, and KPIs.
  • Use CASE and other resources to investigate and maximize the most effective practices for alumni and community engagement.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned or determined as aligning with the purpose of the unit.
