About The Position

The Assistant Director serves as a key leader within the Student Money Management Center, overseeing the strategy, coordination, and delivery of student financial education outreach and student employment programs. This role provides subject-matter leadership on financial education content and ensures alignment and coordination with Enrollment Communications and other division marketing partners for all externally facing materials, campaigns, and messaging. The Assistant Director also provides strategic support for the center's financial coaching services, assessment efforts, and emergency assistance programs, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and student success outcomes. The Assistant Director reports to the Director of Student Money Management and serves as an integral member of the center's leadership team, contributing to organizational planning, operational effectiveness, and continuous service improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field and four years of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Required to be obtained within six months of hire: A valid and accredited certification in financial education or counseling, obtained from a recognized institution or certifying body. The certification must be current and in good standing at the time of application or attained within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and coordination of a comprehensive student financial education outreach program, collaborations, and events that promote and expand financial literacy learning opportunities for students, in collaboration with the Director of Student Financial Literacy & Outreach, Senior Director-UNT One Stop, and executive leadership.
  • Manage the SMMC's student employment program, including scheduling coordination and project assignments, and support the hiring, training, professional development, and performance evaluation processes.
  • Partner with the Division's communications team to provide subject-matter expertise on financial education content and ensure alignment and consistency of messaging across digital and physical communication channels, in collaboration with the Director of Student Financial Literacy & Outreach and executive leadership.
  • Conduct financial coaching with students through one-on-one in-person and virtual sessions, assessing financial circumstances, recommending resources or solutions, and supporting students in taking meaningful financial action.
  • Assist with program-specific assessment activities, including data collection, analysis, and reporting to support continuous improvement and institutional accountability. Collaborates closely with the Director, Senior Director, AVP, and Director of Strategy to ensure assessment is in line with department and division strategic goals and priorities.
  • Participate in tracking and reporting responsibilities for assigned grant-related programming in coordination with the Director of Student Financial Literacy & Outreach, Senior Director-UNT One Stop, and AVP.
  • Support the supervision and guidance of graduate assistants and undergraduate outreach mentors, reinforcing coaching principles, accuracy of information, and student-centered service.
  • Serve as a primary coordinator for incoming event requests from campus and community partners, facilitating communication, logistics, and alignment with departmental priorities, in collaboration with the Director of Student Financial Literacy & Outreach, Senior Director-UNT One Stop, and executive leadership.
