About The Position

We are seeking a qualified Service Line Assistant Nursing Director (SLAND) to join our dynamic team within the Primary Care and Population Health Service Line (PCPHSL) at UAMS. In this dynamic leadership role, you will collaborate with Service Line Medical Directors, the Nursing Director, and the Service Line Administrator to advance the institution’s mission and vision. The SLAND drives strategic initiatives to ensure quality, patient-centered, and family-centered care while maintaining compliance with the Nurse Practice Act of Arkansas, accreditation standards, and institutional policies. The SLAND oversees nursing and allied health functions, providing leadership across the care continuum, including home, community, and ambulatory settings. This position ensures operational excellence, fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, and supports a culture of innovation and excellence. Work Location: This position offers flexibility in work location, with the ability to be based at any of UAMS’ regional sites, including Northwest Arkansas, El Dorado, Texarkana, and Central Arkansas. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program with a Bachelor's in Nursing or have plans to complete in three (3) years, or a Master's in Nursing
  • Valid RN License
  • Ten (10) years of Registered Nursing experience, with five (5) years of experience in a supervisory capacity
  • National Nursing Certification required within one (1) year of hire.
  • Strategic Leadership: Ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives aligned with institutional goals.
  • Regulatory Expertise: In-depth knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act, accreditation standards, and healthcare regulations.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Proficiency in fostering teamwork and collaboration across disciplines.
  • Operational Management: Strong skills in managing clinical operations and ensuring resource efficiency.
  • Communication and Relationship-Building: Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities to engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Ability to work across multiple UAMS regional sites, including Northwest Arkansas, El Dorado, Texarkana, and Central Arkansas.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participates in strategic planning and mission implementation as part of the leadership team.
  • Fosters multidisciplinary collaboration and positive interactions with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Oversees hiring, training, and evaluation processes to build a highly competent nursing workforce.
  • Promotes clinical research, education, and integration of Magnet standards to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Manages staffing patterns to ensure efficient throughput, balanced scorecard outcomes, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Supports service recovery processes and ensures patient- and family-centered care principles are upheld.
  • Leads quality improvement initiatives to evaluate and enhance nursing practice, ensuring consistency and evidence-based care across the service line.
