About The Position

Responsible for assisting the Director of Nursing Services in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of Nursing Services for residents in accordance with current federal, state and local guidelines and regulations that govern the facility and as may be directed by the Director of Nursing Services to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing and licensed as a Registered Nurse by the State of Alabama.
A minimum of two (2) years' experience in a supervisory role in a skilled nursing facility required

Responsibilities

Assist in the planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the nursing service department, as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility.
Make written and oral reports and recommendations to the Director of Nursing Services, as necessary/required concerning the operation of the nursing department.
Assist with the development, implementation and monitoring of the Infection Control Program to include policy development, surveillance, tracking, trending and reporting outbreaks and other communicable diseases to public health and other regulatory agencies as required
Assist in recruitment, selection, and placement of qualified personnel.
Assist nursing supervisory staff in completing and performing tasks as needed.
Assist in developing competency criteria for the resident care service employees.
Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining an effective orientation program that orients the new employee to Nursing Services policies and procedures and to his/her job position and duties.
Assist and evaluate staff performance and effect changes as necessary. Complete and assist with 90 day and annual performance evaluations in a timely manner.
Assist in developing methods for coordination of nursing services with other resident services to ensure the continuity of the residents' total regimen of care.
Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining an ongoing Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) Program.
Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc., as necessary.
Assist in developing and maintaining a working schedule for the nursing department.
Schedule daily rounds on all shifts to observe residents and to determine if nursing needs are being met in accordance with the residents' requests.
Participate in the interviewing and selection of residents for admission to the facility, including screenings.
Make rounds with physicians and Advanced Practice Practitioners as necessary. Schedule physician visits as necessary.
Monitor medication passes and treatment schedules to ensure that medications are being administered as ordered and that treatments are provided as scheduled with appropriate technique utilized.
Provide direct nursing care as necessary.
Perform other duties and assume additional responsibilities as assigned.
