About The Position

The Assistant Director of Grant Accounting supports the administration and oversight of the institution’s grant-related financial activities by assisting with the planning, monitoring, and reporting of grant funds. This position helps ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and private funding requirements while supporting accurate financial management of sponsored programs. The role works closely with faculty, staff, and leadership to provide guidance on grant financial matters, maintain financial records, and support audit and fiscal year-end processes. The Assistant Director also serves as a backup to the Director of Grant Accounting and assists in maintaining the integrity and effectiveness of grant accounting operations.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and private grant regulations, including Uniform Guidance.
  • Knowledge of university policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of basic principles and practices of accounting.
  • Knowledge of financial systems and tools, including Excel and Oracle.
  • Knowledge of contract and grant accounting.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze financial reports.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant field, and three to five years of accounting or related business experience.
  • A combination of education and work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with enterprise financial systems, specifically the Oracle Projects module (PPM).
  • Experience with grant post-award administration.
