SUMMARY Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Assistant Director of Program Services plays a key leadership role in ensuring high-quality, person-centered programming for individuals served. Under the direction of senior leadership, this position is responsible for overseeing daily program operations, supervising staff, supporting regulatory compliance, and driving program development and expansion. The Assistant Director ensures that services promote independence, dignity, and inclusion, while fostering a safe and supportive environment for individuals and staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or a related discipline required.
  • At least three (3) years of progressive supervisory/management experience in the field of developmental disabilities strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with computers, email, and common software applications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, individuals served, families, and external partners.
  • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Passion for ADAPT's mission and demonstrates a commitment to the non-profit disability sector.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of adaptive equipment, wheelchairs, and devices commonly used by individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, interview, train, supervise, evaluate, and support program and clinical staff, providing coaching, professional development, and corrective action as needed.
  • Support the design, coordination, and implementation of program goals, ensuring alignment with agency mission and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the development, monitoring, and evaluation of treatment and service plans to ensure individualized, high-quality care.
  • Ensure adherence to OPWDD, state, and federal regulations; develop and implement quality assurance processes, conduct safety assessments, and address areas for improvement.
  • Ensure accurate and timely collection of program data for funding, compliance, and performance reports; prepare annual program evaluations and departmental projections.
  • Assist with monitoring and managing departmental budgets and financial reports.
  • Coordinate required in-service trainings, develop curricula tailored to program needs (including geriatric and developmental disabilities populations), and ensure staff compliance with training requirements.
  • Assign caseloads to staff and oversee attendance to ensure programs meet and maintain capacity.
  • Manage intake and discharge processes, ensuring proper coordination of services and activities.
  • Oversee incident investigations, ensure appropriate documentation and reporting, and provide staff and individuals with safety training.
  • Support the development of long-range departmental plans and expansion initiatives.
  • Serve on agency-wide committees, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and maintain effective communication with families, guardians, and external partners.
  • Ensure that the rights of individuals are upheld in all programs and activities.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership
