The Assistant Director of Behavioral Supports supervises Behavior Intervention Specialists across multiple programs, ensuring quality performance and accountability. This role represents the Clinical Behavioral Department in Directors’ meetings and regularly informs the Director of Behavioral Supports of issues and concerns affecting services for individuals with disabilities served by ADAPT HV. In addition, the Assistant Director provides targeted support to address both departmental needs and the priorities of the Director of Behavioral Supports. A key responsibility of this position is the development, implementation, and ongoing oversight of clinical residential programming. The Assistant Director of Behavioral Supports role is a five day a week position that offers the flexibility of scheduling to accommodate the needs of the people supported. This supervisory role includes and is not limited to supervising behavior intervention specialists and acting as a BIS in the capacity of engaging and working with individuals, maintaining a caseload, residential staff, guardians, and community service providers to support the harmonious operation of people supported. The Assistant Director of Behavioral Supports will recognize behavioral concerns and aid to lessen and remedy negative behaviors through the development process of various supportive measures. These measures include but are not limited to conducting assessments, implementing behavior support plans and or medication monitoring plans, providing emotional support, attendance at monthly clinical team meetings, life plan meetings and staff meetings, crisis interventions, attendance at routine and emergency psychiatric appointments and the development of plans and protocols to assist the residence in implementing successful behavioral techniques. The Assistant Director of Behavioral Supports will evaluate and monitor progress using interviews, observations, and direct engagement with people supported and work in conjunction with their support team. The Assistant Director of Behavioral Supports will monitor the individuals, analyze progress, and adjust behavioral plans accordingly. The Assistant Director of Behavioral Supports will modify activities, tasks, and materials to provide an opportunity for individuals to successfully integrate into their setting. Additionally, the Assistant Director of Behavioral Supports will provide training, coaching, and role modeling to residential staff in behavioral techniques. The Assistant Director of Behavioral Supports role includes the participation of weekend behavioral on call support on a rotating basis from Friday at 5pm until Monday at 9am. The Assistant Director of Behavioral Supports position requires them to be accessible to their assigned caseloads and assigned BISs after regular business hours.
