The Assistant Director for Training & Student Development, in collaboration with the Director, Assistant Director for Programming and Student Engagement, and Staff Specialist, supports the CSGD’s mission to foster an inclusive campus climate through education, advocacy, support, mentoring, and community engagement. This role designs, implements, and facilitates educational trainings, workshops, and lectures for the Duke community, while co-supervising undergraduate and graduate student staff. The Assistant Director also serves as a liaison to graduate and professional LGBTQIA+ student organizations and leads professional development for CSGD student programming assistants. Responsibilities include overseeing training development and facilitation, conducting departmental assessments related to training and student staff development, and—alongside the Assistant Director for Programming and Student Engagement—managing CSGD operations in the Director’s absence. The role also cultivates civic engagement and philanthropy across the University and local Durham community.
