About The Position

Provides assistance to the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Director, and on-site assistance to building principles, district departments, and staff in effectively implementing the ECE program. Assist the ECE Director in providing expertise, vision, and leadership to ECE staff. Recruit, hire, evaluate, retail, and supervise ECE staff. Supervise and monitor effective instructional practices and develop professional development trainings and opportunities for ECE staff members. Implement all local, state, and federal statues, rules, policies, and administrative directions pertaining to early childhood education.

Requirements

Master’s degree in early childhood education, business administration, or similar field.
Five (5) years Administrator, Director, Manager, Supervisor, Certified Coordinator/Coordinator on Special Assignment/Teacher on Special Assignment (scope of practice must be beyond one school building), Certified Instructional Coach, Dean of Students, Certified Assistant to the Principal, Campus Administrator, School Assistant Principal, or School Principal experience.
Experience working with multiple stakeholders.
Experience working as a Special Education Specialist.
Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Racially conscious and culturally competent with the skill, will, capacity, and knowledge to commit to a culture of continuous improvement.
Willingness to contribute to cultural diversity for educational enrichment.
Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Intermediate knowledge of current research in early childhood curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

Responsibilities

With the ECE Director, plan, implement, and monitor all district services relating to the ECE program.
Recruit, hire, evaluate, retain, and supervise ECE staff, including Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists, Psychologists, Counselors, Social Workers, and Early Childhood Special Educators, and in the absence of the ECE Director, supervise the ECE program. Make staffing decisions, job assignments, and hire staff in accordance with district policies and funder requirements for governance. Provide support to and mentor ECE staff as needed.
Supervise and monitor effective instructional practices and develop professional development trainings and opportunities for ECE staff members (including those that maintain best practices for students with disabilities), aligning ECE program with the District’s strategic plan, goals, and initiatives.
Provide assistance to the ECE Director, and on-site assistance to building principals, district departments, and staff in effectively implementing the ECE program.
Oversee the evaluation, programing, and service delivery model for all Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in strict adherence to the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA). Supervise the intensive needs programing and service delivery model in strict adherence to the IDEA. Provide training and compliance audits of Individual Education Plans for quality assurance and to ensure all legal requirements are met.
Assess quality of classroom instruction by monitoring, being visible, conducting regular observations and walk-throughs, communicating, and creating a clear behavior structure and atmosphere. Supervise and monitor operating and administrative procedures to ensure effective program operation, compliance, and progress on ECE goals.
Using language and culture skills as appropriate, facilitate oral and written communication between staff, ECE students and/or ECE families for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems, and resolving conflicts.
Develop, organize, and facilitate the implementation of the Extended School Year (ESY) program in accordance with the IDEA.
Administer local, state, and federal statutes, rules, regulations, policies, and administrative directives pertaining to curriculum, instruction, and assessment services for the ECE program, including preparing documentation and reports.
Provide leadership in the execution of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) process for children from birth to kindergarten age.
Represent the ECE program at federal, regional, state, local meetings and task forces as assigned by the ECE Director. Participate in program governance regularly.
Collaborate with district departments, schools, staff, and local agencies regarding the ECE program. Regularly facilitate multi-stakeholder groups to ensure that family and staff suggestions are included in ECE program design and operations.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
