As a part of the country’s oldest Catholic and Jesuit university, the Center for Social Justice (CSJ) animates the University’s Jesuit values and mission through its work in research, teaching, and service. A component of the work includes keeping with Georgetown University’s mission to educate people to be reflective lifelong learners and responsible and active participants in civic life and service to others, consistent with the university’s Jesuit identity and its institutional commitment to pursuing justice and the common good. The Center for Social Justice takes a curricular approach steeped in cultural humility and epistemic justice to the delivery of co-curricular programs and services. The CSJ is committed to equity and care in its operations, resource management, and outreach and understands these as practices and processes pivotal for CSJ’s vision of a more just and humane world. The Assistant Director is responsible for managing the operations for CSJ’s programming with a particular focus on operations and the equitable allocation, development, and distribution of the CSJ’s community resources. This position manages the system of Declining Balance Cards for travel in immersion programming, engaged research fellowships, and other sponsored social action projects of the CSJ. The Assistant Director conducts training for CSJ on day-to-day operations, driving, and immersion and engaged scholarship travel operations and processes. The Center for Social Justice is located in Suite 130, Poulton Hall and a secondary office at the Capitol Campus. The vehicles are located in the Leavey Parking Garage.
