Assistant Deli Manager Primary Responsibilities Greet, assist, and ring out all customers politely To initiate and/or make recommendation regarding the hiring, firing, discipline, promotion, and evaluation of all Deli Department personnel. To assist in the orienting and training of all new Deli Department Employees and retrain employees when necessary To assure the safety of self, customers, and co-workers by understanding and practicing store safety rules and notifying a supervisor of any potential hazard immediately To understand the operation, safety requirements and restraints of an electronic cash register, scanner, scale and intercom system. To review the perishable department Communication Board daily for updated materials and follow the guidelines posted for the Sampling Program and intercom announcements. To prepare/organize the cooler/freezer/preparation area for receipt of merchandise, unload trucks, verify the merchandise against the invoice, inspect the delivery for shortages/damage To develop a weekly labor schedule for all Deli Department employees for the approval of the store manager. To order all deli products and supplies from authorized vendors to minimize out-of-stocks while maintaining the desired deli turns. To adhere to all county, state and federal health regulations and codes instructing those supervised to comply To supervise/perform/organize the cooler/freezer/preparation area for receipt of merchandise, verify the merchandise against the invoice, inspect the delivery for shortages/damage and quality, sort cases for stocking or product preparation and code-date all case items in the cooler/freezer. To communicate with the store manager on problems, recommendations for change, effectiveness of plans and merchandising decisions. To supervise/perform the preparation, display and packaging of all products in the deli department. To perform miscellaneous tasks assigned by the store manager, substituting for absent workers, and performing any additional tasks necessary to provide products and services to customers.
