About The Position

The College of Arts & Science (CAS) is seeking an dedicated Assistant Dean for New Students to join the team. The Assistant Dean serves as a senior staff member of the College Advising Team assisting with the strategic planning and assessment of overall advising operations and support services for the College's 9000+ students. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Student Advising, the Assistant Dean serves on the CAS Dean's Cabinet and represents the College to various internal and external constituencies. This position leads a multidisciplinary team and develops programs and initiatives that support the new student experience for first year students, second year students and transition/transfer students. The Assistant Dean is responsible for all aspects of student leadership, development and engagement as well as fostering an inclusive and engaging community for new students.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Liberal Arts discipline or relevant field (e.g., Higher Education, International Education, Counseling Psychology, etc.)
  • 5+ years relevant experience in academic advising and administration, including staff supervision, event planning and implementation, student affairs, and diversity initiatives
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment
  • Comfortable engaging in planning and organizational change projects
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills (with the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels)
  • Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, organization, and multitasking skills, along with strong data analysis, and presentation skills
  • Ability to advise and support underrepresented, minority and diverse student populations and have a strong commitment to liberal arts education
