Georgia State University’s Perimeter College seeks a strategic and collaborative leader to serve as Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration. Reporting directly to the Perimeter College Dean, this role functions as the College’s chief administrative and financial officer, providing executive leadership for finance, human resources, facilities, grants development, and administrative operations. The position serves as a principal liaison between Perimeter College and university‑level administration and plays a critical role in advancing institutional efficiency across five campuses. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Finance
  • seven years of related experience

Responsibilities

  • Budget and Finance
  • The Assistant Dean serves as Chief Financial Officer of the College and principal financial advisor to the Dean. The Assistant Dean directs financial planning and provides strategic counsel on fiscal policy, resource allocation, and long‑term financial sustainability. The Assistant Dean maintains fiduciary responsibility for ensuring a sound financial environment, including internal controls, compliance, transparency, and accountability. The position collaborates closely with College administrators responsible for financial transactions to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant budgetary reporting.
  • The Assistant Dean works closely with the Dean to develop and coordinate the College’s annual academic and operating budget planning and forecasting processes. Additionally, assessing financial resource requirements for existing and new academic programs and developing funding strategies to support institutional priorities will be an expectation. The position works closely with the Dean on faculty proposals, special initiatives, and faculty target and operating budget submissions and delivers presentations to faculty and constituent groups on budgetary matters.
  • Business Operations and Institutional Administration
  • This position provides executive oversight of the College Finance Officer and all financial and business services operations, ensuring integrity and transparency in budget execution and reporting. The Assistant Dean leads development and implementation of policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with state, federal, institutional, and system regulations and guidelines.
  • The Assistant Dean oversees core operational functions, including: budget and financial management, accounts payable, purchasing, and vendor administration, contracts and grants administration, and cost control and financial monitoring
  • Human Resources and Workforce Management
  • Provides strategic leadership for workforce planning, employee relations, recruitment, retention, performance management, and organizational effectiveness for all staff in partnership with college and university leadership.
  • Manages payroll administration for all College employees
  • Facilities, IT, Space Planning, and Capital Projects
  • The Assistant Deans manages the College Facilities Officer providing executive leadership for facilities operations and administrative support services. This position supports the Dean with space planning, construction, renovation, and campus relocation projects across all instructional campuses. Additionally, the Assistant Dean partners with the Dean, faculty, and senior leadership on strategic planning for future space and capital needs. The Assistant Dean serves as the College’s primary liaison to the University on major facilities initiatives, construction/renovation projects and maintenance, space management, space allocation, and grounds.
  • This position will manage special projects related to facilities improvements and institutional growth, including the Botanical Garden.
  • The Assistant Dean facilitates planning and execution of technology initiatives aligned with academic, operational, and instructional needs. The position will collaborate closely with Central IT to support faculty, staff, classrooms, and instructional technologies across five campuses.
  • Grants Development and External Funding
  • The Assistant Dean champions the growth and advancement of sponsored programs, providing strategic oversight of the College’s Director for Sponsored Programs. The position collaborates with faculty, staff, students, campus leadership, and external partners to develop and implement strategies that increase external funding aligned with College priorities.
  • Strategic Partnerships and Institutional Advancement
  • The Assistant Dean serves as a key member of the College’s senior leadership team, working collaboratively to enhance operational efficiency and elevate the College’s profile. Additionally, the position partners with central university units including enrollment management, student success, public relations, and marketing, public safety to support strategic initiatives and institutional goals.
