About The Position

This position is a working lead that assists in guiding work duties of night custodial staff. This position is also responsible for keeping the school building in clean and orderly condition performing any combination of following duties: sweeps, mops, scrubs (operates scrubbers), cleans hallways, cafeteria, kitchen and school rooms. Empties trash and garbage containers. Maintains building, performing minor and routine painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities, using hand tools. Replaces air-conditioner filters. Cleans snow and debris from sidewalk. Mows lawn, sports field, trims shrubbery, and cultivates flowers.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
Swimming pool license, required.
Six (6) months or more related experience in the custodial/janitorial field.
Successful experience working in K-12 education setting, childcare center or other setting where children/youth are present is required.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Willingness to work evenings is required.
Ability to work early morning for snow removal, and daytime during summer months is required.

Responsibilities

Clean and sanitize bathrooms.
Vacuum sweep and mop floors and stairs.
Clean sinks, counter tops, microwaves, and refrigerators in break rooms.
Restock supplies in bathrooms, break rooms, and common areas.
Empty all trash cans and replace liners, clean receptacles as necessary.
Dusting and cleaning office desk and furniture.
Cleaning windows and windowsills.
Willingness and ability to follow approved procedures for cleanup and proper disposal of bodily fluids, required.
Secure premises by locking doors and windows.
Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisor and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
