About The Position

A privately owned, multi-state company based in Las Vegas, NV, is seeking an Assistant Controller to oversee the day-to-day operations in the finance department. This is a key position within a growing finance team. The Assistant Controller partners with the Controller to lead the organization’s accounting operations and ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting. This role provides day-to-day oversight of the accounting function, supports compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements, and helps maintain a strong internal control environment. WORK STATUS: Full-Time, Salaried Exempt, W-2 Employee WORKING HOURS: This is an in-office position with the general working hours of 8:30am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. Requirements

  • Candidates must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for this position:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibility
  • Strong technical knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Demonstrated experience managing the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process
  • Experience supporting external audits and coordinating with auditors
  • Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff
  • Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with internal controls and compliance frameworks
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Controller to oversee all daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets
  • Drive the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to reporting deadlines
  • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports
  • Prepare and review internal and external financial statements prior to final approval
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Oversee and continuously evaluate internal controls, risk management practices, and accounting policies
  • Lead audit preparation efforts and serve as primary liaison for external auditors
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, providing insights to senior leadership
  • Oversee cash flow management and support treasury operations
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate accounting staff, including performance development
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, scalability, and reporting accuracy
  • Support system implementations, upgrades, and automation initiatives
  • Assist the Controller with special projects, strategic initiatives, and executive reporting
