About The Position

We're looking for an Assistant Controller to join our Finance Department Team at Griffin Health. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for assisting in completing the month end financial close for the entire Griffin Health System.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting [REQUIRED]
  • Minimum of 5 years accounting experience required and experience in healthcare or public accounting experience [REQUIRED]
  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting
  • Experience working with general ledger (GL) systems and/or budgeting software, preferably Meditech or other similar major GL systems, Strata or other similar budgeting software
  • Advanced computer skills required particularly with Word and Excel including experience with sorting, importing, exporting and manipulating large data files
  • Very detail oriented with strong interpersonal skills
  • Capable of working under tight time frame to complete the monthly financial close

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Assist in ensuring timely and accurate monthly financial reporting and quarterly bond reporting requirements.
  • Assist Controller in the responsibility for the full cycle of accounting operations including monthly, quarterly and annual closings.
  • Assist the Controller in ensuring that all company accounting controls and systems comply with GAAP and best practices.
  • Review and/or prepare reconciliations of general ledger accounts and monthly journal entries.
  • Review and/or prepare analysis and reconciliation of numerous bank accounts and GL account activity ensuring timely and accurate recording of transactions and corrections.
  • Train and support accounting staff.
  • Assist in the treasury management function of the Health System.
  • Assist all Administrators with accounting related questions.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual operating budgets.
  • Prepare ad-hoc analysis and provide support documentation to information requests from Senior Management.
  • Assist in coordination of deliverables for the financial and retirement plan audits, as well as, Form 990 tax preparation.
  • Maintains documentation in compliance with organizational and program standards.
  • Participates in staff meetings, supervision, trainings and other meetings as assigned.
  • Complete other special projects as requested.
