Opportunity Summary The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in managing the Strategic Business Unit’s (SBU’s) accounting operations, financial reporting, and internal controls. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate financial data, compliance with regulations, and continuous improvement of accounting processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required
  • Advanced-level accounting experience in a public accounting firm or industry environment
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills and work cross-functionally with non-finance teams
  • Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in industrial services, construction and energy sectors (e.g., project-based accounting) under multi-entity environments is a plus
  • CPA is strongly preferred
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., MS Dynamics D365 MSFT) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Support and help drive the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate completion
  • Ensure accuracy of the general ledger, account reconciliations, and financial data integrity
  • Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements and internal management reports
  • Support and coordinate external audits, including preparation of audit deliverables
  • Contribute to process improvements to enhance efficiency and shorten the close cycle
  • Support day-to-day accounting functions
  • Ensure proper internal controls are maintained and followed
  • Analyze variances between actuals and forecasts
  • Provide financial insights to support decision-making
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
  • Build and maintain a high-performing finance organization
  • Identify opportunities to automate and streamline accounting processes
  • Support ERP system maintenance or upgrades
  • Improve reporting efficiency and data accuracy
