About The Position

Our client is a privately owned and operated Internet Service Provider (ISP) growing at ~20% year over year. They are a close-knit, family-oriented organization that values collaboration, transparency, and long-term relationships. As growth continues, they’re looking for an Assistant Controller to help lead and scale the accounting function. This is a hands-on Assistant Controller position, partnering closely with ownership on financial reporting, forecasting, and long-term planning. It’s a great opportunity for an Accounting Manager or Senior Accountant ready to step into a leadership role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience
  • Experience as an Accounting Manager or Assistant Controller
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and sales tax
  • Advanced Excel skills and QuickBooks Online experience
  • Comfortable working in a privately owned, family-run business
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle accounting using QuickBooks Online
  • Oversee high-volume Accounts Payable via Bill.com
  • Support revenue recognition, billing, and collections
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts, projections, and financial models
  • Partner with ownership and bank on lending, borrowing, and project financing
  • Assist with customer and project loan structures, setup, and tracking
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting in Excel
  • Maintain and update a rolling 5-year financial plan
  • Manage banking activity and daily cash flow
  • Oversee multi-state sales tax filings and compliance
  • Maintain amortization schedules for long-term contracts (5–7 years, up to 10 years) and fixed assets
  • Oversee inventory accounting using IQ Reseller
  • Ensure accurate month-end close, reconciliations, and general ledger integrity
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff (2 clerks)
  • Improve financial reporting quality, accuracy, and timeliness
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation
  • Assist with planning for a future ERP or accounting system upgrade
