The Role: As our Assistant Controller, you'll play a key role in maintaining the finacial integrity of our operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting strategic decision-making.

Requirements

  • CPA License or CPA Candidate required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 3 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance in Insurance industry.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP)
  • Superior attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multitask multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain relationships.
  • Advanced competency in Microsoft Excel and strong analytical capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Operating Systems and Office products including, but not limited to Outlook and Teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and statutory accounting principles (SAP) in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts, including journal entries and month-end close processes.
  • Support the Treasurer and Asst. Treasurer with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and assist in enhancing financial policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with auditors, regulators, and external stakeholders during audits and examinations.
  • Prepare and file regulatory and statutory reports as required by state insurance departments.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends and opportunities for performance improvement.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining accounting systems and software enhancements.
  • Support tax preparation, investment accounting, and cash management activities.
  • Mentor and oversee the work of junior accounting staff or clerks, as needed.
  • Ad-hoc reports and analysis, as needed.
  • Other projects and duties, as assigned.
