About The Position

The Salvation Army Gateway Corps located in St. Louis, MO, is looking for an Assistant Community Center Director. This position is responsible for assisting the Community Center Director in the development and implementation of all corps and community-based programs for all ages, aimed at promoting good emotional, physical, and spiritual health. This is a full-time exempt position, 40 hours per week pay of $42, 474.00 per salary.

Requirements

  • High School Education or GED. Previous work experience with youth activities and community center is desirable.
  • Good communication skills. Able to read and write well, able to relate well with youth and children. Requires basic verbal communications with children and other employees. Valid drivers’ license (including E license to transport children) and pass TSA MVR is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Help coordinate facility usage for outside groups and rentals
  • Lead staff member in charge of facilities safety training and compliance (CPR/AED, Safety Drills, First Aid,ECT.)
  • Assist Community Center Director with increasing revenue and adjusting the community center business model.
  • Assist Community Center Director with Home School P.E. Programming as needed
  • Work alongside corps officers, community center director, and Youth & Family Ministries Coordinator in developing community center programming as needed (I.E., Youth Leagues, Adult Leagues, After-School & Day Camp Programming).
  • Assist in supervision or leading of community center programming as needed and decided upon by the community center team (youth & adult leagues, after-school and day-camp programming).
  • Mediate disputes between program participants and/or volunteers as needed.
  • Assist in Transportation during After-School Programming
  • Ensure that appropriate programs are done from a Christian worldview and have spiritual content.
  • Train members and visitors in the care and use of games and equipment.
  • Maintain inventory control and requisition of program supplies
  • Record and submit daily statistical reports Report
  • Help maintain cumulative records on all program participants
  • Promote and stimulate interest in Salvation Army activities and events. Interpret the objectives and communicate the standards and programs of the Center to staff, parents, members, and the general public.
  • Participate in the annual Christmas Campaign as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and Safe From Harm guidelines.
  • Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with clients, co-workers, and supervisors. This includes, but is not limited to, such actions as: resolution of conflicts in a professional manner; courteous treatment of staff, visitors, and clients; respect of others’ property and person; and professional and appropriate communication to and about clients, co-workers, and supervisors.
