About The Position

In coordination with the Head Coach, the Assistant Swim Coach performs duties relative to the daily functions of the Swim Program. Works independently and with minimal supervision from the head coach to instruct student athletes in various aspects of the athletic discipline and sports performance. This job description does not state or imply that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee occupying this position. Duties and responsibilities listed are essential job functions and exclude functions which are incidental to the performance of fundamental job duties. Assists the university in implementing the Statement of Purpose. Assists the university in implementing the long-range institutional and financial plans. Independently provides instruction in individual and team concepts, safety and athletic performance Independently develops and instructs the off-season and in-season strength and conditioning programs for student athletes Instructs skill development opportunities for individual athletes and positions Instructs students athletes to maintain equipment and facilities Develops and instructs athletes on independently made training practice plans Assists the head swim coach with recruiting Drives athletes to and from swim meet related events and training

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Advanced knowledge of the sport of swimming including diving
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Limited ability to use common office productivity software
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to be covered under university driver’s insurance policy
  • Ability to drive and travel in and out of state with team

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as a collegiate swimmer or coach
