About The Position

Friends University is seeking to fill the Assistant Coach Football – Special Teams position in Wichita Kansas. The Full-Time Assistant Coach Football – Special Teams will oversee all special teams schemes for the Friends University intercollegiate football program as well as recruiting student athletes to support the Christian mission and values of Friends University and the NAIA Champions of character. Work hours are 8 am – 5 pm Monday – Friday, with some evening and weekends required. Requirements

  • Four years of coaching is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s preferred.
  • Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation. Strong organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Must be able to multi-task and be a part of a fast-paced demanding environment. Ability to maintain confidential information, strong time management and leadership development skills.
  • The work requires minor physical exertion such as short periods of standing, walking over rough, uneven surfaces, some recurring bending, crouching, stretching, reaching, or similar activities. Job may require lifting of lightweight objects with infrequent bending or stooping alternating with the lighter activities. Job requires minimal agility and dexterity. Must be able to lift a minimum of 35 pounds.

  • Experience with recruiting and eligibility processes preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the special teams units – educating student athletes on theory and performance. Oversee the development of practice and game strategies for the special teams unit.
  • Assist in the development of recruitment strategies and facilitate those strategies with the Head Coach, Admission, AVP Athletics and Financial Aid.
  • Assist Head Coach Football with needs for the daily operations of the program. This includes but is not limited to: practice and game day planning, budget management, equipment needs, facility needs, collaboration with the athletic training team and ensuring academic success of football student athletes.
