About The Position

Meritus Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as Assistant Clinical Manager in our fast-paced Emergency Department . This leadership role is ideal for a nurse with proven clinical expertise and strong leadership skills, ready to take the next step in their career. As the Assistant Clinical Manager , you will support the Clinical Manager in overseeing daily ED operations, lead independently during off-shifts, and contribute directly to quality improvement, staff engagement, and patient-centered care delivery. You'll play a vital role in guiding the team toward achieving department and organizational goals—ensuring excellence in care and service. Key Responsibilities: Provide leadership and direction in the Emergency Department, particularly during off-shifts or in the absence of the Clinical Manager. Support unit operations including scheduling, payroll, staffing, and performance evaluations. Lead and participate in quality improvement and patient experience initiatives. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and ancillary departments to ensure seamless care delivery. Serve as a coach and mentor, promoting accountability, professional development, and a positive work environment. Uphold standards of nursing practice in alignment with the Nurse Practice Act and ANA Code of Ethics. Advocate for patient dignity, autonomy, and safety. Identify and resolve barriers to effective communication and care delivery. Drive cost-effective practices and support resource management strategies. Foster an environment of evidence-based practice and critical thinking. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) - Required
  • Minimum of 3 years acute care nursing experience required, 5 years preferred
  • Prior leadership experience preferred (e.g., educator, committee chair, charge/resource nurse)
  • Minimum of 3 years acute care nursing experience required, 5 years preferred

  • Current Maryland RN license or a Multi-State Compact RN license (with Maryland eligibility) - Required
  • BLS (CPR) - Required
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, or other unit-required certifications - Must be obtained within 6 months of start
  • Professional specialty certification - Preferred
