About The Position

This position provides secretarial services to the City Secretary and assumes the full role of this officer in her/his absence. Acts as Information Officer for the Council in the absence of the City Secretary.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of related experience.
  • Must attain certification through the Texas Municipal Clerks Association within three (3) years.
  • Knowledge of the duties of the City Secretary in her/his absence.
  • Knowledge of document production on standard personal computer using Word or similar programs.
  • Skill in preparation by hand or other methods necessary for requisitions and documents.
  • Ability to perform all duties of the City Secretary in her/his absence.
  • Ability to communicate with members of the general public by telephone.
  • Ability to produce written notations to office calendar reflecting meetings and appointments.
  • Ability to assemble files, alphabetize, store and retrieve from standard legal sized filing cabinets.
  • Ability to perform basic math skills.
  • Ability to operate standard business copier and able to perform simple maintenance tasks such as replenishing paper supply and toner.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree and Microsoft experience in Word, Excel, etc.
