ASSISTANT CITY ATTORNEY I/OF
About The Position
The City of Newport News is accepting applications from attorneys for a full-time position as an Assistant City Attorney. The ideal candidate will have experience in local government law in general, and experience in social services matters specifically. The specific job duties will depend upon the successful candidate's experience and interest but will include representation of the Newport News Department of Human Services and may include other areas such as workers' compensation, employee grievances, litigation, eminent domain, real estate, and/or public procurement. Salary and hiring position are negotiable depending upon experience and qualifications, with an anticipated hiring range between $90,000 and $100,000. The City provides an excellent benefits package. Must be a member of the Virginia State Bar in good standing. The position will remain open until filled.
