The City of Stockton is seeking a hands-on, technically strong, and emotionally intelligent Assistant Chief Financial Officer who can serve as a strategic partner to the CFO while providing administrative leadership over the City’s treasury, revenue, debt, and accounting functions. As the organization transitions responsibility for treasury operations from the CFO to the ACFO, the ideal candidate will bring the expertise and confidence to manage these areas with independence and sound judgment. Equally important is leadership style. The City seeks an ACFO with high emotional intelligence—someone who values collaboration, communicates clearly, and thrives in Stockton’s “working leader” environment. The successful candidate will mentor staff, promote cross-training, cultivate talent, and build a cohesive, engaged team. They should take their work seriously, but not themselves too seriously, balancing professionalism with approachability and humor.
