About The Position

About the Role Clever Bee Academy is growing, and we’re looking for an enthusiastic, organized Assistant Center Director to support day-to-day operations and help lead a high-quality early learning environment. In this role, you’ll work closely with the Center Director and leadership team to support staff, ensure compliance, and create a safe, positive experience for children and families. This is a great opportunity for an experienced early childhood professional looking to grow into a senior leadership role.

Requirements

  • At least one year of supervisory experience in a childcare or early learning setting
  • Minimum of three years of classroom experience in a licensed childcare environment
  • CDA or equivalent Early Childhood Education credits required
  • Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred
  • Ohio Career Pathways Level III or higher required
  • Knowledge of and experience with Step Up to Quality (SUTQ) standards
  • Ability to meet all state background check, education, and licensing requirements
  • CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain within 30 days
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English; bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply
  • Ability to meet physical demands of a childcare environment, including lifting up to 60 lbs
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; sponsorship is not available for this position

Responsibilities

  • Support the Center Director in managing daily operations in alignment with company policies and state licensing standards
  • Supervise staff, manage schedules, assist with staffing coverage, and step into classrooms as needed
  • Maintain a safe, healthy, nurturing environment and oversee center appearance, safety, and facilities
  • Build strong relationships with children, families, and staff while supporting a positive center culture
  • Support Step Up to Quality (SUTQ) implementation, compliance, and documentation
  • Assist with administrative operations including recordkeeping, staff and child files, timecards, payroll support, CACFP submissions, and use of child care management software
  • Contribute ideas to leadership discussions, support food program standards, and actively pursue professional development to prepare for future leadership roles
