About The Position

The Assistant Camp Director will play a vital role in the successful operation of our camp programs. This position involves organizing daily camp schedules for kids k-8th grade, leading training for counselors, and ensuring effective communication with parents and staff. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and passionate about creating a positive camp experience for children. This role offers a full-time seasonal schedule during active camp sessions: Summer Camp: Approximately 11–12 weeks Winter Break: 1 week Spring Break: 1 week Outside of these periods, the position transitions to part-time hours.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in camp management or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Passion for working with children and creating a positive camp environment.
  • First Aid and CPR certification is a plus.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and manage daily camp schedules to ensure smooth operations.
  • Assist in leading training sessions for camp counselors to enhance their skills and effectiveness.
  • Participate in the interview process and assist in hiring qualified counselors.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and counselors regarding any issues or concerns.
  • Make informed decisions about when to contact parents regarding camper issues.
  • Handle situations involving sick campers and ensure proper cleanup and care.
  • Lead and support camp counselors in their daily activities and responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with other departments within the facility to ensure schedules align and run smoothly.
  • Open and set up the concession stand for snack times and lunch, ensuring a welcoming environment.
  • Retrieve and distribute snacks and lunches, coordinating with kitchen staff for special dietary needs.
  • Manage the check-in and check-out process for campers to ensure safety and accountability.
  • Develop and implement engaging activities for campers, including sports games, crafts, and coloring.
