Assistant Buyer, Hard Beverages
About The Position
Total Wine & More is seeking an Assistant Buyer to join our Hard Beverages team in Bethesda, MD. In this role, you will support the buying team with item setup, compliance, reporting, and supplier communications for categories such as ready-to-drink cocktails, seltzers, and other hard beverages. You will play an important role in ensuring timely and accurate execution of category initiatives, while gaining foundational experience in retail buying and merchandising. Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree Business, Merchandising, or related field preferred
- Less than 1 year experience in merchandising, retail operations, or a related field (internships count).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to interact with internal partners and suppliers professionally.
Responsibilities
- Support the Hard Beverage buying team by setting up new items, maintaining item data, and ensuring accuracy in systems and documentation.
- Assist with supplier communications, preparing meeting materials, and following up on action items to keep projects on track.
- Manage digital assets for assigned items, ensuring images and product details are accurate for online and marketing use.
- Prepare and distribute sales, inventory, and performance reports to support category planning and decision-making.
- Help coordinate promotional activities, including item setup, pricing checks, and store communication.
- Maintain organized electronic files, tracking sheets, and project lists to support the team’s day-to-day work.
- Resolve store-level questions or issues by coordinating with internal partners and suppliers.
- Provide general administrative and analytical support on ad hoc projects as assigned and perform other duties as needed to support the Beer team.
