About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Buyer Assistant to join our procurement team in Anchorage, United States. In this role, you will provide essential support to our buying department, assisting with vendor management, purchase order processing, and supply chain coordination. The ideal candidate will be efficient, professional, and committed to maintaining accurate records while supporting our organization's purchasing objectives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, administrative support, or related supply chain role
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent time management and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic understanding of procurement processes and purchasing principles
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field
  • Experience with procurement software or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems
  • Previous vendor management or supplier coordination experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience with data entry and database management
  • Knowledge of supply chain fundamentals and inventory management
  • Familiarity with contract review and negotiation processes

Responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing and processing purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal departments to facilitate timely delivery of goods and services
  • Maintain and update vendor databases and supplier information with current contact details and pricing
  • Research market prices, suppliers, and product availability to support procurement decisions
  • Process invoices and reconcile purchase orders with received goods and billing documentation
  • Monitor inventory levels and alert management to stock shortages or overages
  • Support contract negotiations by gathering relevant data and preparing comparative analysis
  • Prepare procurement reports and summaries for management review
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a professional and timely manner
  • Organize and maintain procurement files, documentation, and records in both physical and digital formats
