About The Position

The Assistant Branch Manager partners with the Branch Manager to support and coordinate the route drivers and customer deliveries for the branch. The Assistant Branch Manager shares responsibility with the Branch Manager for safety management, advancing sales activity at the branch, staff development and retention, facility maintenance, and the overall sound stewardship of branch resources. This includes ensuring alignment with all regulatory agencies and requirements, such as OSHA, FDA, and Airgas USA, LLC policies and procedures (including SOPs) at the facility. When the Branch Manager is off-site, the Assistant Branch Manager will provide guidance to all branch personnel, including Counter Sales Representatives and administration. Reviews safety events to recommend improvements and eliminate recurrences. Maintains alignment with all regulatory (OSHA, FDA, EPA, DOT) requirements, training, and records. Provides guidance and support to direct reports in alignment with company policies and values Partners with Human Resources on staffing, recruitment, and inclusive retention strategies. Shares responsibilities to support business effectiveness and team professional growth. Coordinates hiring, training, and performance coaching while fostering understanding to resolve concerns. Ensures all customers receive excellent service and timely, courteous follow-up Supports the accuracy of sales-related paperwork, inventory management, and branch shipments. Advances sales activity for walk-in business and assists outside sales with quotes and leads. Partners with the Plant Manager on coaching the team and maintaining a functional, welcoming facility. Utilizes TRIPS and monthly dashboards to inform daily routing and sound business decisions. Supports the scheduling of preventative maintenance for the facility and vehicle fleet. Maintains accurate records and contributes to the continuous improvement of safety and quality programs.

Requirements

  • Action-oriented contributor with a background in creating and implementing plans that advance business success in key areas.
  • We are looking for someone who enjoys working with a wide variety of people with different perspectives and backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of order entry, data research, and computer skills necessary to support customers and suppliers.
  • A thorough understanding of products, services, and associated technologies, or a curiosity and readiness to learn.
  • Experience guiding a team of six or more associates, with a demonstrated ability to effectively support professional development, including coaching, accountability, and performance reviews.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and foster understanding of general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to perform calculations in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages to support informed decision-making.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates’ Degree in Business, Management, Accounting, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience, training, and education.
  • Foundational knowledge of Microsoft/Google Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Knowledge of SAP is considered a valuable addition to the team.
