About The Position

The Assistant Branch Manager supports the Branch Manager in leading overall branch operations, including people leadership, scheduling, financial performance, safety, and customer service. This role is both analytical and hands-on, with a clear growth path toward becoming a Branch Manager within approximately two years based on performance and business needs. You will collaborate closely with sales, project management, engineering, operations, and administrative teams to ensure efficient, safe, and profitable branch performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of leadership or operations experience (construction, industrial services, equipment rental, logistics, or similar).
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and team leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Financial literacy and comfort working with operational metrics.
  • Commitment to jobsite and workplace safety.

Responsibilities

  • Promote Barnhart’s “One Team” culture and Servant Leadership values.
  • Support and help lead a cross-functional team, including sales, operations, project managers, mechanics, and administrative staff.
  • Assist with setting goals, expectations, and performance metrics.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and safety-focused work environment.
  • Help oversee daily scheduling of crews, equipment, and resources.
  • Support project planning and execution to ensure work is completed safely, on time, and within scope.
  • Work with field operations, dispatch, and engineering to solve problems and improve workflow.
  • Review and understand branch financials (P&L, budgeting, job costing).
  • Assist in identifying opportunities to improve branch performance, efficiency, and resource utilization.
  • Support forecasting, pricing discipline, and general business planning.
  • Help maintain strong relationships with customers and partners.
  • Support sales initiatives, including bid reviews and project coordination.
  • Assist in resolving customer issues and ensuring high-quality service.
  • Model a Safety-First mindset at all times.
  • Participate in safety meetings, incident follow-ups, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ensure team adherence to company and industry safety standards.
