About The Position

The Assistant Branch Manager assists in overseeing branch organizational, financial, operational, service, and growth plans and staff to ensure branch success and to make the institution the members' primary financial institution of choice. This role maintains direct responsibility for the day-to-day operations of Banking Consultant I’s, II’s, and III’s, ensuring a professional branch culture focused on sales and service. The Assistant Branch Manager also underwrites, structures, and closes consumer loans, and maintains and services an existing loan portfolio. In the absence of the Branch Manager, this position is responsible for the overall operation of the branch, including personnel, service, and business performance. The role involves partnering with the Branch Manager on business plans, goals, and budget, and reporting operating results. It also includes identifying and recommending policy and procedure changes, ensuring staff adherence to procedures, policies, and regulations, and serving as a subject matter expert. The position involves direct member interaction, including transactions, educating members on products and services, making referrals, enhancing relationships through follow-up, and resolving member requests. Additionally, it covers branch opening/closing duties, staff selection, development, training, performance management, and input on HR actions. The Assistant Branch Manager also handles routine and complex member transactions, new account applications, collections/negotiations on problem loans, and cash/vault/ATM management. A key part of the role is interviewing and closing consumer loans within lending authority and actively participating in community relations.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in business, finance or equivalent business related field.
  • Three years’ work experience in a financial institution.
  • Two years previous supervisory/manager experience in a customer service related position; or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through a minimum of 6 years related work experience.
  • Must be bondable.
  • Must obtain Minnesota Insurance Producers License with Credit Line of Authority within 3 months of start date in this position.
  • Must register and maintain the unique identification number (originator ID) according to the S.A.F.E. Act.

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory/Manager experience in a financial institution preferred.
  • Notary Public designation within 3 months of start date in this position desired but not required.

Responsibilities

  • In the absence of the Branch Manager, is responsible for the operation of the branch, including, but not limited to personnel, service and business performance.
  • Partners with Branch Manager on developing the branch business plan, goals and budget.
  • Assists Branch Manager in reporting all branch operating results.
  • Identifies and makes recommendations to Branch Manager on policy and procedure changes.
  • Provides regular reporting to management.
  • Implements new or revised changes to procedures and processes.
  • Ensures that staff understands and adheres to procedures, policies, and relevant state and federal regulations.
  • Provides guidance and support and serves as a subject matter expert and a resource to staff on policies, procedures, systems and compliance.
  • Performs member transactions and consults with members to educate them on features and benefits of products and services.
  • Recommends products and services based on member financial needs.
  • Makes referrals to appropriate departments.
  • Enhances member relationships through follow-up activities to include outbound calls.
  • Creates a remarkable member experience by responding and providing resolutions to member requests with expertise.
  • Performs opening and/or closing duties for the branch.
  • Selects, oversees, develops, trains and manages the performance of Banking Consultant I’s and II’s.
  • Provides coaching and feedback to staff to assist them in achieving individual and team goals.
  • Makes hiring decisions, writes performance reviews and submits compensation recommendations.
  • Provides input on Human Resources related actions.
  • Responsible for both individual, department and branch results.
  • Effectively manages staff coverage levels and coordinates work of employees.
  • Performs routine and complex member transactions accurately and efficiently and responds to member requests, problems or complaints.
  • Processes new account applications for individual members and business accounts.
  • Performs and coordinates collections/negotiations on problem loans.
  • Responsible for maintaining cash drawer, vault and ATM machines.
  • Interviews and closes loans for members applying for consumer loans, approving or denying loans within lending authority and recommending on loans above lending authority.
  • Maintains sufficient knowledge to assist with other types of loan applications.
  • Actively participates in community relations efforts to contribute to the mission and visibility of Magnifi Financial.
