About The Position

Austin Telco Federal Credit Union is seeking a people-first Assistant Branch Manager who excels at coaching teams, solving problems, and creating exceptional member experiences. The position involves comprehensive branch and member service leadership, including supporting daily branch operations, leading the teller team, and delivering friendly, accurate service to members in person and by phone. Key responsibilities include opening new accounts and assisting with various financial products such as loans, IRAs, HSAs, CDs, and business accounts. The Assistant Branch Manager will also serve as acting Branch Manager when needed, ensuring operational excellence by overseeing daily branch opening and closing procedures, maintaining cash controls for drawers, vaults, ATMs, and supporting fraud/dispute processes, stop-payments, and card services. Additionally, the role assists with audits, cash ordering, regulatory compliance, and supports mobile deposits and online account services. A crucial aspect of this position is team coaching and development, where the manager will lead, motivate, and provide feedback to branch staff, support conflict resolution, and foster a positive, accountable, member-focused culture. Community engagement is also expected, involving building strong member relationships, promoting financial literacy, and representing Austin Telco professionally in outreach activities. The role requires reliable attendance and flexibility, including occasional after-hours needs and willingness to travel to other branches for staffing and service support.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience in a bank or credit union setting
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lead a team and manage branch operations independently
  • Familiarity with cash handling, security procedures, and fraud processes
  • Reliable attendance and flexibility for occasional after-hours needs
  • Willingness to travel to other branches to support staffing and service needs

Responsibilities

  • Support daily branch operations and lead the teller team
  • Deliver friendly, accurate service to members in person and by phone
  • Open new accounts and assist with loans, IRAs, HSAs, CDs, and business accounts
  • Serve as acting Branch Manager when needed
  • Open and close the branch and oversee daily operations
  • Maintain and balance cash drawers, vaults, ATMs, and branch cash controls
  • Support fraud/dispute processes, stop-payments, and card services
  • Assist with audits, cash ordering, and regulatory compliance
  • Support mobile deposits and online account services
  • Provide coverage and leadership support at nearby branch locations as needed to ensure consistent service and staffing across the region
  • Lead, coach, and motivate branch staff to deliver exceptional member experiences
  • Assign and direct daily work, monitor performance, and provide feedback
  • Support conflict resolution and professional development
  • Foster a positive, accountable, member-focused culture
  • Build strong member relationships and promote financial literacy
  • Participate in community outreach and represent Austin Telco with professionalism
