About The Position

The Assistant Bakery Manager supports daily bakery operations to ensure high standards of product quality, food safety compliance, merchandising execution, and customer service. This role assists with associate leadership, production planning, and department readiness while supporting the Bakery Manager in achieving sales, shrink, and labor goals.

Requirements

  • Strong organization, communication, and time ‑management skills
  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to stand, lift, and perform repetitive production tasks

  • Previous bakery, food service, or retail experience
  • Supervisory or lead experience

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily bakery production, baking, finishing, packaging, and merchandising
  • Ensure proper rotation, labeling, dating, and freshness standards are consistently met
  • Support ordering, inventory control, shrink reduction, and out ‑of ‑stock prevention
  • Maintain full, clean, and attractive service cases and self ‑service displays
  • Execute promotions, seasonal programs, and special or custom orders
  • Follow and reinforce food safety, sanitation, and temperature control standards
  • Assist with training, coaching, and development of Bakery associates
  • Help assign daily tasks and monitor workflow for productivity and quality
  • Lead by example in professionalism, food safety, and customer service
  • Support attendance management and performance feedback
  • Assume department leadership responsibilities in the Bakery Manager’s absence
  • Provide friendly, prompt, and knowledgeable customer service
  • Respond to customer questions, requests, and concerns professionally
  • Promote bakery products, programs, and custom order services
  • Maintain department cleanliness, organization, and equipment readiness
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of ingredients, supplies, and finished products
  • Comply with all company policies, labor guidelines, and safety procedures
  • Assist with inspection readiness and corrective actions as needed
