About The Position

The Assistant Bakery Manager supports daily bakery operations by ensuring high standards of product quality, food safety, merchandising, and customer service. This role assists in leading associates, executing production plans, and maintaining a clean, organized, and well-run department. Key responsibilities include supporting daily bakery production, packaging, and merchandising, assisting with ordering and inventory control, and ensuring product freshness and display standards. The role also involves leadership and team support, such as assisting in training, coaching, and developing Bakery associates, assigning tasks, monitoring workflow, and stepping in as department lead in the Bakery Manager’s absence. Customer service is paramount, requiring friendly, prompt, and knowledgeable service, and effective response to customer inquiries. Maintaining department cleanliness, organization, equipment readiness, and compliance with all company policies, labor guidelines, safety procedures, and health department inspections are also crucial aspects of the position.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift, stand, and perform repetitive tasks as required

Responsibilities

  • Support daily bakery production, packaging, and merchandising activities
  • Assist with ordering, inventory control, and shrink reduction
  • Ensure product freshness, proper rotation, dating, and display standards
  • Maintain attractive displays and full cases throughout operating hours
  • Follow and enforce all food safety, sanitation, and temperature standards
  • Assist with execution of promotions, seasonal programs, and special orders
  • Assist in training, coaching, and developing Bakery associates
  • Help assign daily tasks and monitor workflow for productivity and quality
  • Model proper procedures, customer engagement, and professionalism
  • Support attendance management, performance feedback, and accountability
  • Step in as department lead in the Bakery Manager’s absence
  • Ensure friendly, prompt, and knowledgeable service to all customers
  • Respond to customer questions, requests, and concerns effectively
  • Promote bakery products and custom order services
  • Maintain department cleanliness, organization, and equipment readiness
  • Ensure proper handling of ingredients, supplies, and finished product
  • Follow all company policies, labor guidelines, and safety procedures
  • Maintain compliance with health department and company inspections
