The Public Utilities Section is seeking an experienced attorney with at least 2 years or more of litigation and appellate advocacy experience to represent the Staff of the Ohio Power Siting Board and the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio in administrative hearings and represent the Board and Commission in direct appeals and original actions filed in the Ohio Supreme Court. Responsibilities include giving clients advice and counsel on policy issues and rulemaking, editing and filing comments on behalf of the Commission in federal agency dockets on issues impacting Ohio customers’ utility bills and services, and representing the Commission as a party before federal agencies and appeals therefrom to Appellate Courts. Attorneys with excellent writing skills required; and advanced degrees or experience in energy or administrative law, environmental studies, accounting, business or engineering preferred. Prior experience arguing cases before the Ohio Supreme Court or other appellate court is preferred. We are seeking a candidate who can work independently and/or contribute as a team player with other attorneys as lead counsel on cases. This position will work a hybrid in-person/remote schedule. There may be in person requirements for training and operational needs. The headquarter location is our Columbus, Ohio office.
