About The Position

This position assists the head trainer in all areas of Sports Medicine, including but not limited to assisting with team coverage (proposed Men's Basketball/Tennis) during practice sessions, team competitions at home and away, pre-game and post-game treatments, and other duties as assigned. The salary is determined in accordance with the University’s compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates’ education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • No prior experience required.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • General knowledge of NCAA rules.
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs.
  • Certified in the Board of Certification (BOC).
  • Texas athletic trainer license or temporary permit by date of hire.
  • Requires work beyond normal working hours, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and delivers athletic training services to assigned teams including: prevention, recognition, evaluation and treatment of athletic injuries; acute care and emergency response to athletic injuries; rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletic injuries; and health care administration for the student-athletes.
  • Delivers athletic training services to varsity student-athletes, under the direction of the head athletic trainer and team physician, including: prevention, recognition, evaluation and treatment of athletic injuries; acute care and emergency response to athletic injuries; rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletic injuries; and health care administration for the student-athletes.
  • Assists with maintaining comprehensive medical records for individual student-athletes, daily injury reports for all athletes, and annual injury report summarizing injuries, treatments, and follow up care.
  • Supervises the clinical experiences of the athletic training students and assist the AT Program Director with other duties related to the Athletic Training Program.
  • Organizes and coordinates the inventory of athletic training equipment and supplies.
  • Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates graduate assistant athletic trainers.
  • Provides coverage of all home and away events as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
