About The Position

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Assistant Athletic Trainer - Boca Raton, FL. The Assistant Athletic Trainer supports the daily healthcare, injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation of student-athletes under the direction of the Head Athletic Trainer and team physicians. This role helps manage athletic training operations, ensures accurate medical documentation and compliance, and assists with emergency preparedness and policy updates to promote the safety and well-being of all student athletes.

Requirements

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of directly related professional experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of directly related experience required.
  • Successful experience as a graduate assistant or intern in an athletic program is acceptable for up to one year of the required experience.

  • OFFICIAL SEALED TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED: Final candidate will be required to have official, sealed transcripts and original NACES evaluation, if applicable, sent from their educational institution to Human Resources prior to the start of employment.
  • PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENINGS REQUIRED: Selected candidates must successfully complete and pass all employment screenings prior to the start of employment. Employment screenings may include a criminal background check (level I and level II), motor vehicle check, credit check, reference checks, alcohol, and drug screening check.

Responsibilities

  • Directly responsible for the day-to-day healthcare, athletic training, treatment, physical therapy, and rehabilitation of sports teams, as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.
  • Responsible for coordination and administration of the athletic training programming in a manner that provides for competent and complete medical care for all student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics under the direction of the team physician and the athletic director.
  • Directly Responsible for the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for student-athletes.
  • Administer first aid to injured athletes and apply protective devices such as taping, bandaging, or bracing.
  • Works in conjunction with team physician(s) in determining whether an athlete is fit for participation in an athletic function.
  • Assists in daily athletic training administrative duties that include but are not limited to the following: administering athletic pre-participation physicals, echocardiograms, daily medical documentation, emergency equipment checks, Emergency Action plan review and rehearsal, and drug-testing programs.
  • Work cooperatively with, and under, the direction of the team physician in respect to the operation of the therapeutic devices and equipment, fitting of braces, guards, or other devices, referrals to physicians, health service or hospital.
  • Completes and maintains documentation for all necessary continuing education to maintain BOC certification and State Licensure.
  • Any other job-related duty that may be initiated as requested by the Head Athletic Trainer or Team Physicians.
  • Maintains all documentation and certifications of medical staff.
  • Aids in policy development and updates.
