Core Responsibilities Provide first aid, emergency care, injury assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries, and physical reconditioning for students (and where applicable, school community members) . Work with Head Athletic Trainer to oversee, coordinate and/or conduct initial and ongoing health assessment of student athletes to ensure they are fit to play, including but not limited to annual required physical exams; ImPACT concussion and other required testing; and return to play clearance evaluations.â¯â¯ Maintain records and treatment logs reflective of injury assessment, treatment and care provided.⯠Communicate and maintain relationships with coaches, parents, athletics staff, other Cary Academy employees (as applicable) and local medical sports injury specialists regarding the health of student athletes including, but not limited to athletic participation requirements; specific student health conditions, needs and accommodations; emergency and rehabilitation assessment and treatment; and medical referrals and consultation.⯠Responsible for procuring athletic training assistance at home events as needed.⯠Provide athletic training services for athletic practices, home games, home tournaments and playoffs, and travel to games and playoffs (as needed), including but not limited to ensuring teams have adequate hydration, medical equipment, and safety resources; attending on campus athletic activities; rendering first aid and medical treatment to athletes; and coordinating and communicating medical emergencies in accordance with school protocols.â¯â¯ Refer severe athletic injuries to a licensed health care provider for full diagnosis and recommendations as necessary.⯠Monitor and communicate weather and other environmental risks to coaches, athletics administration, campus operations personnel and other Cary Academy employees as needed to ensure safe playing conditions are maintained.â¯â¯â¯â¯â¯ Work with Head Athletic Trainer to maintain a safe, effective, and efficient athletic training program, including ensuring all equipment is inspected, preventatively maintained and sanitized on an ongoing basis; an adequate inventory of supplies is ordered, monitored and safe for use; and all reports and records are fully completed, up to date and filed and/or communicated as required.⯠Administer CPR, First Aid and Automated External Defibrillation (AED) training as assigned.â¯â¯â¯ In coordination with the school Nurse, assist with coverage for community events requiring medical support.â¯â¯ Provide support to the academic program as requested, though PE classes or a dedicated sports medicine program.â¯â¯ Work collaboratively with the Head Athletic Trainer and other Cary Academy medical, athletic and health professionals to design, implement and communicate health, safety and athletic training policies, protocols for the Athletics program, and other school programs and community initiatives. Work collaboratively with the Information Services team to research, implement and evaluate technology resources related to position responsibilities.
