About The Position

The Assistant Athletic Trainer works under the supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer and helps oversee the care of student-athletes competing in the University's athletic programs. This position is responsible for injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, documentation, and coverage of practices, games, and travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Certification by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC).
  • Knowledge of athletic injuries, rehabilitation techniques, assessment, and emergency care.
  • Familiarity with basic pharmacology and athlete counseling.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to manage budgets.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • A vibrant and authentic Christian faith and worldview consistent with the University's mission and values are required.
  • Ability to remain positive in stressful situations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly with staff and athletes.
  • Confidence in decision-making and flexibility in a dynamic environment.
  • Regular computer use and ability to recognize and assess athletic injuries.
  • Ability to lift, grasp, stoop, and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Flexibility to work in varied settings and environments daily.
  • Must demonstrate Christian character and be actively involved in a local church.

  • Master's Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of the Athletic Training Room.
  • Provide coverage at practices and games, including evenings and weekends.
  • Travel with both men's and women's athletic teams as assigned.
  • Assist with inventory management and supply ordering.
  • Support the processing of secondary insurance claims.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of student-athlete medical records, including pre-participation physicals, injury reports, and rehabilitation notes.
  • Model caring relationships with students through personal interaction and as an effective role model of a committed Christian life.
  • Willingness to exercise ministerial duties as appropriate, such as praying with students, sharing personal faith testimony, encouraging students in their walk with Christ, etc.
