Role Summary: Reporting to the Head Athletic Trainer, the Assistant Athletic Trainer will support the overall sports and player medical program.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
  • Must be licensed by the state or provincial authority in the jurisdiction of the Club
  • Certified Athletic Therapist, by either the Board of Certification, National Athletic Trainers Association or the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association
  • Comfortable frequently working at a fast pace, with unscheduled interruptions and deadlines.
  • Converse in a calm, friendly manner
  • Ability to coordinate team of medical professionals including PT, Chiro, Strength Coach, Sports Med Physicians, Paramedics, Dentist, Nutritionist, Psychologist etc.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proven ability to work with others in an environment that requires quick decisions that protect the safety and well-being of the players.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Will travel to other work-related locations for games

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a sports/team, or hockey environment is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Athletic Trainer in treating injuries of Condors’ players.
  • Assist in the implementation of injury prevention measures and injury management procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records and documentation on all players at the request of the Head Athletic Trainer, liaising with Condors’ physicians, dentists, and other medical providers.
  • Maintain a proper and clean facility, including care, maintenance, and inventory of all equipment and supplies as required in duties.
  • Responds immediately to acute injuries that occur during training sessions, practices, and games.
  • Works closely with Strength & Conditioning coaches to ensure that proper exercise modifications are being made for an injured player.
  • Assist in filing worker’s compensation claims as directed by the Head Athletic Trainer.
  • Carry out all duties assigned to an Assistant Athletic Trainer as directed by the Head Athletic Trainer, Head Coach, and/or General Manager.
  • Maintain a good working atmosphere for all Condor’s staff and players in and around the Condors’ dressing room and practice facility.
  • Assisting with the orderly movement and organization of all equipment and supplies of the Condors while travelling on Condors’ road trips.
  • Using his best efforts to promote the interest and goodwill of the business of the Oilers and Condors.
