About The Position

Wiley University is seeking a dynamic and student-centered professional to serve as Assistant Athletic Director. This role supports the overall administration, compliance, and operational effectiveness of the University’s intercollegiate athletics program. The Assistant Athletic Director will play a key role in ensuring student-athlete success, promoting institutional values, and enhancing the visibility and competitiveness of Wiley athletics. This position requires a strategic thinker who can balance day-to-day operations with long-term program development while maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred (Sports Management, Business, or related field)
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in collegiate athletics administration or related field
  • Strong knowledge of NAIA rules and collegiate athletics operations
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to student-athlete development and success
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and athletics management systems
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required
  • Visible presence at athletic events and campus activities
  • Commitment to upholding the standards and reputation of Wiley University

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Athletic Director in the daily management of all athletic programs and departmental operations
  • Oversee scheduling, travel coordination, and game-day operations for assigned sports
  • Support budget management, purchasing, and resource allocation
  • Ensure facilities are properly maintained and prepared for practices and competitions
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable rules and regulations (conference, National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), and University policies)
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records related to eligibility, recruiting, and financial aid
  • Support internal audits and compliance education for coaches and staff
  • Promote academic success, retention, and graduation of student-athletes
  • Coordinate with academic affairs to monitor student-athlete progress
  • Support initiatives related to leadership development, wellness, and life skills
  • Provide oversight and guidance to assigned coaches and athletic staff
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and performance management of coaches
  • Foster a culture aligned with Wiley University’s mission and values
  • Support fundraising, alumni engagement, and community outreach initiatives
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications to enhance brand visibility
  • Assist with game promotions, fan engagement, and special events
