About The Position

Purdue University Fort Wayne is currently seeking a fulltime, onsite Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine in our Athletics department. The Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine will oversee the Sports Medicine unit, including working with the team physicians to deliver high quality athletic health care to all Division I student-athletes and teams.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Athletic Training or a related field.
  • MAT & 4 years' experience in sports medicine, physical therapy and/or athletic training.
  • NATA-BOC certification and Indiana Athletic Training License, Indiana Physical Therapy License if employee has Physical Therapy degree.
  • Must be able to carry and lift coolers of ice, water, and medical equipment.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and remain in compliance with the Purdue University Motor Vehicle Records Check policy.

Nice To Haves

  • MAT/BA/BS from CAATE accredited athletic training education program.
  • 2-3 years' experience in a collegiate setting.

Responsibilities

  • Work with/assist the team physician(s) for the delivery of athletic healthcare for all teams and student-athletes.
  • Supervise all aspects of Associate/Assistant Athletic Trainers/Interns, including proper evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of student-athletes and their athletically related injuries and general health care.
  • Provide opportunities for continuing education for all Sports Medicine staff.
  • Coordinate rehab billing.
  • Serve as HIPPA officer for Sports Medicine.
  • Assist with Athletic Department hiring, as appropriate.
  • Oversee NCAA CPR/First Aid/AED certification and instruction in coordination with Compliance.
  • Assign and oversee certified athletic trainer coverage for all DI programs, travel, and maintenance of all student-athlete medical records and other documentation.
  • Oversee the Sports Medicine budget.
  • Serve as the NCAA Athletics Healthcare Administrator and Drug Testing Site Coordinator.
  • Oversee and maintain appropriate medical records for student-athletes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
