Cape Henry Collegiate seeks an experienced and dynamic leader to serve as Assistant Athletic Director and Head Middle School Athletic Director , beginning in Summer 2026. The successful candidate will be a relational, mission-driven leader who demonstrates a strong commitment to student development, program excellence, and collaborative leadership. Working closely with the Athletic Director, this role provides oversight and support for the school’s interscholastic athletic programs in grades 6–12. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in physical education, Sports Management, Health Sciences, or a related field.
  • Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
  • Coaching experience and/or professional experience working in interscholastic athletics.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Athletic Director on daily operations and the advancement of mission-driven departmental goals.
  • Partner with the Facilities Department to coordinate athletic field and facility maintenance requests, ensuring safety, functionality, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee all aspects of the Middle School Athletic Program, including game scheduling, hiring and supervision of coaching staff, and consistent communication with student-athletes and parents.
  • Work closely with the Middle School Division Director to implement best practices that support age-appropriate athletic development.
  • Assist with the supervision and support of varsity, junior varsity, and middle school athletic programs.
  • Ensure departmental compliance with Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools (TCIS) and VISAA rules, guidelines, and regulations.
  • Schedule, supervise, and support all game-day operations and event management responsibilities.
  • Develop and lead professional development opportunities focused on coaching education and growth.
  • Design and implement student-athlete leadership development programs.
  • Assist with the hiring, evaluation, and supervision of all athletic department personnel.
  • Model, communicate, and reinforce the CHC athletic philosophy related to participation, competition, and sportsmanship.
  • Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with all members of the athletic community.
  • Assume the duties and responsibilities of the Athletic Director in their absence.
