About The Position

The UA School of Counseling houses Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) accredited degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling, and Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE) accredited degree in Marriage & Family Therapy. The School of Counseling has as its mission the goal of training students who: Display a respect for human dignity. Exhibit a commitment to fulfillment of their individual potential. Show an understanding of educational and counseling processes with knowledge in their specific field of endeavor. Apply ethical and competent behavior in the use of counseling skills. Acquire and use knowledge of the roles and functions of others working in related fields. Possess and display maturity in self-development. Understand issues and trends of a multicultural and diverse society. Requirements

  • (1) Earned doctorate degree in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program. ABD will be considered but a doctorate degree must be conferred prior to the position start date (including follow-up confirmation from the dissertation chairperson stating that the dissertation defense has been scheduled may be required)
  • (2) Experience working with counseling graduate students in instruction, clinical supervision, and/or scholarly activities
  • (3) Licensed or license eligible as a Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the State of Ohio
  • (4) Scholarship and professional involvement specific to the counseling profession

Nice To Haves

  • (1) Involvement in or affiliation with professional counseling organizations (e.g., ACA, ACES, state-level associations and/or subdivisions)
  • (2) Successful use of technology in in-person, hybrid, and online instruction and/or clinical supervision
  • (3) A successful record of scholarly activities (publications, presentations, and/or grant writing)
