About The Position

The developing Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) invites applications for a tenure-track full-time core faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor within the School of Public Health. The successful candidates will contribute to the development, delivery, and assessment of the curriculum; mentor and advise students; and engage in scholarly activity and service that support the mission of the program, the Department of Kinesiology, and the School of Public Health. This search seeks to fill one position with expertise in orthopedic or cardiopulmonary physical therapy.

Requirements

  • Academic Doctoral degree (PhD, DSc, EdD) in Physical Therapy, Rehabilitation Science, or related discipline.
  • If a licensed Physical Therapist, must be eligible for Physical Therapist licensure in Nevada (or compact-eligible).
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in orthopedic or cardiopulmonary practice.
  • Demonstrated ability or potential to teach effectively at the graduate level.
  • Evidence or promise of scholarly productivity (research, publications, or presentations).
  • Commitment to collaborative work and to contributing to a new, developing program.

Nice To Haves

  • Physical Therapy degree (DPT or equivalent) with ABPTS board certification in Orthopedic or Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy (or eligibility within one year of hire).
  • Experience as a clinical instructor, residency/fellowship mentor, or site coordinator of clinical education.
  • Experience in curricular design, use of simulation technology, or hybrid instructional approaches.
  • Track record of interdisciplinary collaboration with fields such as biomechanics, physiology, or public health.
  • Demonstrated success or potential for extramural grant funding.
  • Leadership in APTA-Nevada, APTA, AOPT, ACSM, cardiopulmonary professional sections or other related professional organizations
